Ragged Coast Chocolates, a Maine-based producer of award-winning chocolates and artisanal baking mixes, has announced the launch of Ragged Coast Dessert Sauces. Handmade in small batches with local ingredients, Ragged Coast Chocolates Dessert Sauces include Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge, Salted Honey Caramel, and Rye Whiskey Caramel.
“Ragged Coast Dessert Sauces are fun and multi-purpose. They can be used as a filling or frosting, in hot chocolate and coffee drinks, and to top my favorite food in the world: ice cream,” says Ragged Coast Chocolates’ founder Kate Shaffer. “As with all our products, we’re exceptionally choosy about our dessert sauce ingredients. We use local Maine butter and cream, real vanilla beans, organic sugar, no corn syrup--and as always, direct-trade dark chocolate from Latin America to make these decadent and versatile toppings,” continued Shaffer.
Together with its recently launched chocolate-centric baking mixes, the three new dessert sauces are part of the expanding Ragged Coast Chocolates Pantry Collection. The sauces mirror customer-favorite confections that are the heart of Ragged Coast Chocolates. Just like the original chocolates, Ragged Coast Dessert Sauces are handmade in small batches with butter, cream, honey and other Maine ingredients.
Shaffer turned to chocolate after a cold and stormy winter on the tiny island of Isle au Haut, Maine. Far from her California childhood and at the edge of a misty forest, Kate paired persistence with pounds of direct-trade chocolate. Three years later, Ragged Coast Chocolates twinkled into existence.
Today, Ragged Coast Chocolates produces perfectly imperfect, award-winning chocolates, caramels, baking mixes, and dessert sauces in Ragged Coast’s Maine kitchen with the same detail and determination as that first winter seven miles out to sea.
